Current Ministers

Revs. Reiko (L) and Yasuhiro Yano (R)

Associate Minister  and Head Minister

Revs. Yasuhiro and Reiko Yano were assigned to the Konko Mission of Wahiawa by the Konko Church of Amagi in Fukuoka, Japan.  They arrived on September 28, 1977.  Yano sensei enjoys his church work, as well as cooking and gardening.  He is also great at inventing new gadgets around the house and fixing things.  Reiko sensei enjoys singing and teaching the Japanese language.  She was a Registered Nurse at the Fukuoka Nisseki (Japan Red-Cross Hospital) before becoming a Konko minister.  

Rev. David Yano

Associate Minister

David sensei was ordained in 1999.  He enjoys surfing at the beach.  He is also a Jack of all trades, as he knows how to repair a lot of things around the house and maintain the car.  He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing.  He is a full-time registered nurse working as a resource RN, and he has been floated all over the hospital like the ER, ICU and regular med-surg units.  He has a passion to care for patients and loves what he does.  

Rev. Edna Matsuoka (Yano)

Edna sensei was ordained in 2002.  She enjoys spending time with the cats as well as gardening and cooking.  She graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing.  She is also a part time registered nurse who works in the medical-surgical/oncology unit of a local hospital in Hawaii since 2010.  Working as a nurse made her realize the many blessings of Kami-Sama that humans receive on a daily basis.  Edna sensei is a 4th generation nurse and 4th generation Konko believer.
